Snapshot presents Snapshot 02: Temporary Gatherings by Niamh Chisholm.

The project explores temporary gatherings of people in spaces within the university, that are specific to the BA Fine Art course. These gatherings include artist talks and lectures. Chisholm records where everyone is sitting on A6 pieces of paper in pencil, with a single dot representing each person. From this she embroiders the mapped-out drawings onto cotton squares, each approx. 11x11 inches. These pieces explore transient spaces, relationships to space and memory, and capture a brief moment in time, immortalising it.

Niamh Chisholm is a Level 5 Fine Art student. Her practice usually encompasses oil painting and textile-based work, specifically embroidery. She is continuously interested in ideas around permanence, space, memory, and documentation. Chisholm explores these concepts through creating series and archives of work that are often detailed and clear-cut in their visual appearance.
